Rising right up from the South, yeah that’s where I want to be” – When My Name Is Spoken

Although it’s 2012 and Spirit Family Reunion say they’re from Brooklyn, I’m relatively certain they landed there via a time machine in the Deep South. Their moonshine soaked sound comes at you hard and fast – and you have no idea if the songs are even from this century. I suppose that’s the beauty of it. Music should be timeless and I can honestly say that SFR’s debut album could just as easily fit in with my dad’s record collection (think, The Band) or hell, even my grandfather’s collection (think Hank Williams) – as it does my own. This album isn’t on iTunes, but you can get it by simply sending the band an email (spiritfamilyreunionusa@gmail.com) and they’ll tell you what to do. Enjoy.
